Hypnosis isn’t just for entertainment purposes any more. It has come a long way. Today Hypnosis takes on a new twist and meaning especially when it comes to hypnotherapy work. Neuroscience studies have shown that this mind-body therapy affects the brain in extraordinary ways. Clinical studies have demonstrated its effectiveness in treating anxiety, phobias, skin rashes, irritable-bowel syndrome, addictions as well as acute and chronic pain.
In France and Belgium, anesthesiologists are offering hypnosis combined with local anesthetic as an alternative to general anesthesia in surgery. Even in the UK, Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, has used hypnosis to battle labour pains for her royal births!
In North America, medical centres such as the Mayo Clinic, U.S.A. have added hypnosis to their pain-management tools. Hypnosis is also being used at Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary and the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario Canada with great success.
Hypnosis harnesses the brain’s natural abilities to regulate the body and control the random thoughts that ricochet through our minds.
Hypnosis assists an individual to be open to new ideas, positive suggestions which in turn creates new neuro pathways in the brain. It does this by by-passing the conscious mind. Once it lets its guard down, it then by-passes the critical faculty which allows us to directly work with the subconscious mind. This allows the therapist’s new and positive suggestions to embed themselves into the parts of our grey matter that regulate our thoughts, perceptions and physiology; therefore changing the neurology of the brain and creating these new pathways – changing attitudes, behaviours, dialling down pain and eliminating addictions, while helping individuals setting themselves up for success.
What is Hypnosis?
Have you ever found yourself on auto-pilot, zoned out or just day-dreaming? Perhaps you drove home and questioned how you got there?! Wonder where the time went? That’s a form of self-hypnosis.
Or how about when logically, we know what we should do/want to do, but we just cannot seem to follow through and do it. New Year’s Resolutions are a good example of this. Hypnosis is a therapeutic tool that accesses the subconscious mind where it is free to think without interference from the conscious mind.
This is how you will succeed. I will align your conscious and subconscious mind so that you change your thoughts, the neurology of the brain, which in turn, will create new positive feelings, attitude and behaviours.
What is Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT)?
RTT was developed Marisa Peers, a British motivational, pioneering hypnotherapist , psychotherapist and winning sports psychologist.
RTT is a distinctive approach from regular hypnosis. The client is involved with the therapist in uncovering the meaning and interpretation of events and then changing them. This leads to permanent, powerful change because RTT enables the mind to tell the body what to do, such as heal itself, turn fear into excitement etc. This is a form of neuroplasticity that creates new neural pathways while simultaneously removing old neural pathways leaving the client wired to change and to stay changed.
Who Does Hypnosis Help and With What Issues?
Hypnosis helps normal people with normal problems who want to heal long standing problems they could not overcome on their own, such as but not limited to:
What Happens During a Session?
I help you feel relaxed and calm during your entire session while you are sitting beside me in a comfortable chair or sometimes lying down, whichever you prefer. RTT hypnosis is completely safe and natural.
I will use visualization techniques to quiet your conscious mind so we can change your thoughts, which in turn, leads to changes in your feelings, attitude and behaviours.
During RTT, you will be regressed back to several memories in order to uncover where, when, how, and why you developed your presenting issue/problem. This insight will help you gain a deeper understanding of the root, the cause and the reason for your issue(s). Please understand that you play an active role in the successful outcome of your session(s).
Will I Know What’s Happening?
Absolutely. At no time will you fall asleep, become unconscious or not be aware of what’s happening. In fact, the opposite is true. Your senses will become more heightened. You will remember what is said. You can talk, move your body, get a tissue, even get up and walk around if you wanted.
What If I Don’t Go Deep Enough?
Don’t worry about how deep you go. It’s really not important. The depth of a trance is not linked to results at all. Just tell yourself the truth – “This is working”, and it will absolutely work.
Will I Discover or Reveal Something I Don’t Want to?
Never. You are always in complete control. Trust that your subconscious mind will only permit what you can handle. You will never reveal anything that you cannot cope with.
Will I Quack Like a Duck?
No. You cannot be made to do anything against your will or moral code. You are always in complete control.
What If I Think I Already Know the Reasons Behind my Issue?
What makes RTT amazing is that even if you think you know the reason, you see it in a completely new way. That’s what allows you to change the meaning and ultimately, change your beliefs. And for many clients, they go back to scenes that are totally different than what they expected. Just relax and trust that your subconscious mind will show you exactly what you need to see.
What If I Go Back to Scenes That Are Painful or Scary?
If you go back to scenes from your life that are traumatic such as sexual or physical abuse, it’s important to remember that you are not reliving that scene. You are simply reviewing it, and that you are safe. I will support you and create a safe space for you to express your emotions and heal. You will be okay.
Is Hypnosis Magic?
Not at all. Hypnosis is science. It works by creating a burst of brain waves that are the same as when you’re in REM. That’s what allows you to access the subconscious mind. The therapist has no power or hold over you. You have complete control at all times. The only power used is the power of your mind!
When Will I Start To See Changes?
There are 3 types of changes with hypnosis and everyone is different.
RTT is a unique method that typically requires 1 – 3 sessions to resolve most deeply rooted issues. Most people want to continue their sessions to work on other areas of this life.
You must be motivated to change and follow through with the process.
